About Site-specific, Land-based Commissions
& Workshops
Influenced by a two month artist in residency on Big Sur Land
Trust, I developed a process of incorporating foraged materials
as mediums for paintings and works on paper. Experimentation
resulted in works that literally incorporated the land - berries,
wildflowers, earth pigments, ash, pine beetle resin, lichen,
redwood silt, and beeswax. I foraged with a sensitivity to and
respect of ecosystems, collecting only abundant or partially
decayed flora. Nature/environment, natural & organic pigments
and mediums also circumvent the environmentally and
personally hazardous toxins of some typical painting supplies and
solvents.
'Organic Art' commissions and workshops (for children and/or
adults) are possible using your property or garden, a public park,
or any beloved setting to explore and include nature-based
substances for art making.
About Commissions
I respond to complete licence, a 'co-created' envisioning a work
of art, and/or detailed specifications. I value commissions for the
added dimension of considering the relationship of the work to
its intended home/site.
If desired, I send digital images and welcome clients to 'visit' the
work in progress.
